mASEANa (modern ASEAN architecture) Project, initiated in 2015, is designed to operate for six years until 2020. Within the defined period local and foreign architects, researches, politicians and citizens are called to think together and take action on modern architecture in Southeast Asia.
- We believe that depending on the country, area and time the modern of the architectures varied and generated a unique diversity of its forms and as a matter of respect to each such architecture we deliberately avoid using the capital “m’’.
- The Docomomo Japan and the Japan Foundation co-organize the project and we also extremely grateful to the Toyota Foundation that has kindly provided us with financial support for September 2016 - October 2018.
- The project is coordinated by Dr. Johannes Widodo (The National University of Singapore), Dr. Yoshiyuki Yamana (The Tokyo University of Science), Dr. Shin Muramatsu (The University of Tokyo) and managed internationally by the local volunteers and their priceless contributions to the project. Furthermore, a group of international organizations such as DOCOMOMO International, ICOMOS 20th committee and mAAN (modern Asian architecture Network) is our constant support.
