This is the first encyclopaedia
covering 20th-century architecture in Southeast Asia.
We analysed modern architecture in nine cities across eight Southeast Asian
countries, selecting 100 works from each. This book visualises those 900 works
of architecture with their value and history.

To gather, historicalize, and conserve 20th-century architecture in Southeast
Asia, we have been working on the mASEANa project since 2015 in partnership
with the Japan Foundation, the Toyota Foundation, and specialists and students
from eight Southeast Asian nations as well as Japan.

One outcome of such an endeavour is this book.
We sincerely hope you will like this book and gain an appreciation
for Southeast Asian 20th-century architecture.

The e-book is freely accessible to reach as many individuals as possible,
including students in Asia and other countries.
